James Owen Sullivan, (born February 9, 1981 - died December 28, 2009 at the age of 28 years, better known as The Rev or The Reverend Tholomew Plague) is a drummer as well as a background singer for the band Avenged Sevenfold. The Rev also had a lead singer in a band Pinkly Smooth.

James Owen Sullivan, The Rev, a drummer and backup singer for Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead at his home in Southern California. Lt. John Domingo says Sullivan, 28, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach. Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach back in 1999 and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. The band was reportedly working on their fifth album. The band released a statement Monday expressing their sadness and calling Sullivan “one of the world’s best drummers,” and “our best friend and brother.
